Bowery Bay Pump Station

The Bowery Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant serves an area of 15,000 acres in northwest Queens, NY. The original plant was designed to provide primary treatment to a flow of 40 million gallons/day (MGD) for a population of about 300,000. The expanded plant is designed for the expected 2020 population of 920,000, contributing an average flow of 150 MGD. The expanded plant can provide primary treatment for 300 MGD and secondary treatment for 225 MGD. The plant is currently undergoing an upgrade to biological nutrient reduction systems.

Project Description

EnTech developed a Building Information Model (BIM) for the existing condition and new design of High and Low Level Pumping Stations at Bowery Bay WWTP. The scope of work for this project included developing a 3D model and a 4D model to be used for visualization, coordination, simulation, and identifying clashes. A 3D Laser Survey was done to ensure the accuracy of as-built drawings and to provide a 3D model with a high level of accuracy for existing facilities. After a complete laser survey was performed, EnTech modeled the Architectural, Structural, and MEP disciplines to a 300 Level of Development (LoD) in Revit.
