The NYCDEP Bureau of Engineering Design and Construction (BEDC) In House Design (IHD) is embarking into a new territory of 3D design and Building Information Modeling (BIM). IHD identified two projects as the first projects that full 3D design will be implemented: Two City Tunnel Shafts located in Queens, and Coney Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) Upgrade. To help the IHD team with their BIM initiative, EnTech assigned a BIM manager to establish BIM standards and assist with the projects.

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP)

Key Services

  • BIM 3D Modeling
  • 3D Laser Scanning

Project Description

EnTech began with reviewing and configuring the necessary hardware and software at the workstations and training DEP staff in BIM and Revit. EnTech also helped develop BIM Execution Plans and workflow guides.

EnTech performed laser scanning and created 3D models for the Coney Island BNR project. The laser scanning helped complete missing data from the incomplete and inconsistent CAD drawings and allowed for the creation of a complete Revit model of the RAS pipe tunnel and aeration tanks.
